Cold Laser Therapy - Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

Cold Laser, Low Level Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or “Cold Laser” is a clinically-proven therapy that has played an important role in Europeans’ healthcare for over thirty years. This type of therapy has been the subject of over 2,500 scientific papers, published worldwide. There are no reported side effects to this painless, non-toxic, non-invasive, light-based therapy.

In comparison with European practitioners, the North American healthcare field has been slower to adopt this therapy, and so Cold Laser has been relatively underutilized here in the U.S. until relatively recently. Happily, however, there is now increasing awareness and acceptance of Cold Laser among American healthcare practitioners. We are proud to have added this leading edge therapy to our clinic and are pleased to offer this amazing modality to our clients.

Cold Laser TreatmentCold Laser light consists of a very specific wavelength of light. The wavelength of the light being used is from the cold, or red part of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. This light is different from natural light in that it is one precise color; it is coherent (it travels in a straight line); it is monochromatic (a single wavelength); and it is polarized (it concentrates its beam in a defined location or spot).

Cold Laser can be helpful in relieving all types of inflammation, and it can be incorporated with massage therapy.  Use of Cold Laser Therapy in addressing soft tissue derived pain, joint pain and stiffness, and the resolution of myofascial trigger points (or “knots”). We have found Cold Laser to be a relatively painless and highly effective method of releasing the hyper-irritable nodules known as trigger points that can form in muscle tissue, and our Clinical Massage Therapy training allows us to release those trigger points in a strategic order.

When you choose the “Clinical Massage Therapy" session from our service menu, Cold Laser may be made available to you as a therapeutic option at no additional charge (in accordance with any applicable contraindications and / or time constraints, and at the discretion of your therapist). However, if you are specifically interested in Cold Laser, please choose the “Cold Laser Therapy” when booking your appointment so that we can assure that the equipment will be available during your session.
