Phase 3: Wellness Care (Maintenance is Key to Healthy Living)
Massage: A Necessity Disguised as a Luxury
Once your initial pain complaint has been resolved, and adequate steps have been taken to ensure that your do not suffer a “relapse” of your pain complaint, routine Massage Therapy can help ensure that your physical problems do not return, and keep your body in optimal condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of exercise and proper diet, it is necessary to continue with regular massage therapy sessions to ensure the health of your musculoskeletal system.
However, “regular” means something different to everyone. Some clients find that they feel their best when they come in for a weekly massage. Other clients find that coming in every month, or even every couple of months, is adequate for them. How frequently you decide to come in for a maintenance massage is up to you and will depend on many factors, including your schedule, budget, lifestyle, and personal preferences.
And, of course, new lifestyle developments (a new job, a new recreational activity, a household or yard project, etc.) can cause new pain complaints to manifest, or even cause old pain complaints to resurface. If this is the case, we may need to “switch gears” and revisit the relief phase of care until this new pain complaint has been resolved.
It’s no surprise that we believe that making routine Massage Therapy sessions a part of your lifestyle can help you enjoy optimal health and avoid many of the aches and pains that can otherwise detract from the enjoyment of your life.
